Mount Ramelau, known locally as Tatamailau, is Timor-Leste’s highest peak at 2,986 meters and is a site of deep spiritual significance. Hikers often begin their ascent in the early pre-dawn hours from Hato Builico village, the most common trailhead, about 25 km from Maubisse.
