A Lei n.o 9/2008, de 2 de julho, estabeleceu o Sistema Nacional de Inteligência da República Democrática de Timor-Leste. O Sistema de Inteligência insere-se no âmbito da segurança nacional e constitui um instrumento de acção e de garantia contra as ameaças de origem interna e externa.
