Palácio do Governo de Timor-Leste

With its sweeping double-tiered colonnade and gleaming white symmetry, the Palácio do Governo is Dili’s most recognizable piece of Portuguese civic architecture. Set back behind a broad paved esplanade facing the sparkling waters of Dili Bay, it anchors the city’s civic life and serves as the backdrop for state ceremonies.

Constructed in 1960 during the Portuguese administration as the seat of the colonial governor, this grand neoclassical building survived the 1975 invasion and the 1999 violence relatively intact. Today, it serves as the official office of the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste and several key ministries.
